Why We Started Hill Country MVMT
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had this vision in my head—owning a gym. Not just any gym, though. I’m talking about a place with soul. A place where people feel seen, supported, challenged, and celebrated. A place where movement is medicine and community is everything.
Before Hill Country MVMT existed, Gina and I were deep in the grind—living and breathing health and fitness. Gina ran her personal training business, Strong Like Her, out of our garage, and was absolutely crushing it (seriously, the neighbors were probably wondering why so many strong women kept showing up at our house). I was training clients out of a buddy’s warehouse, also doing well, but both of us were starting to feel that itch.
We loved what we were doing, but we knew there was more. More people we could help. More lives we could impact. More opportunity to build something lasting, something real. We didn’t want to just train people. We wanted to empower them.
So, one day, I looked at Gina and said, “I want to open a gym.”(She stared at me like I had just asked her to build a rocket ship.)
Right around that time, a friend in real estate told us about a 2,700 sq. ft. space for lease out in Dripping Springs. It was a little further west than we’d planned—okay, quite a bit further, considering we were living in South Austin—but the space had potential. It had good bones, as they say.
Also during that time, we were having “the talk” about family and future kids. I’ve always wanted kids. Gina wasn’t 100% sold just yet (spoiler alert: fast forward a few years and now we’re parents to the two, raddest kiddos).
But in that moment, we knew: the gym dream had to happen first. So we pressed pause on family planning, signed the lease, and dove headfirst into the unknown.
Hill Country MVMT was born in late 2018; we officially opened doors to the public in March 2019. A leap of faith, a truckload of equipment, a lot of elbow grease from friends, and a mission rooted in one very simple belief:
MOVEMENT CHANGES LIVES.
Our Vision
Today, Hill Country MVMT exists to be more than a gym. Our goal is to become a fitness sanctuary for the Dripping Springs community—a trusted space where people of all fitness levels can train safely, move confidently, and grow consistently.
We’re known for delivering safe, effective, and efficient results thanks to our incredible team of expert coaches and trainers. But what truly sets us apart is the way we do it—with genuine compassion, unwavering accountability, clear education, and above all else, care.
We want every person who walks through our doors to develop physical autonomy—to feel strong, capable, and confident in their body, not just inside the gym, but out in the real world, too. Whether you're chasing a specific goal or just want to feel better as you age, our MVMT team is here to guide you every step of the way.
Our Goals
Our mission is carried out through a few core goals that shape every decision we make:
To develop a physical foundation that fully prepares your body for the activities you care about most, as well as the unexpected. Whether it’s chasing your kids, hiking with friends, or just getting up and down off the floor with ease, we train for real life.
To connect as a community by creating an environment in which our members aspire to inspire, motivate, and support each other without comparison. We’re not here to compete with one another—we’re here to build each other up.
To redefine success by setting standards that reflect what matters most to you. We celebrate the personal victories—whether that’s your first push-up, your 100th class, or finally feeling at home in your own body. Your goals are unique, and we honor that.
To embrace discomfort—because that’s where growth happens. We believe in doing hard things, not just for physical results, but because learning to push through tough moments carries over into every aspect of life.
To influence, educate, and guide our community to thrive with enthusiasm. We’re not just coaches—we’re your partners, your teachers, and your biggest cheerleaders.
A Movement, Not Just a Gym
We’ve recently hit our 6-year mark, and honestly? We feel like we’re just getting started.
Our gym family has grown from a handful of people who trusted us in those early days to a thriving community of “Everyday Athletes” who show up, work hard, laugh a lot, and support one another through it all. We’ve been privileged to witness some incredible transformations—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
But, the heart of Hill Country MVMT hasn’t changed.
It’s still the same dream we had in the garage and the warehouse: To help people move better, live better, and feel better.
So if you’re reading this and wondering whether a place like this exists—a place where you can feel welcome, seen, challenged, and supported—just know: it does.
And we’d love to meet you!
