Why the Basics Matter
At Hill Country MVMT, we live and breathe a culture of MOVE WELL + MOVE OFTEN. We believe that it’s not about the weight you lift; it’s about the people you move.
Sure, it’s not the most glamorous or even flashy way to go about things. The “basics” are actually a lot like spinach. You know they’re good for you, but you’d probably rather have some fried chicken or ice cream instead.
We don’t pile on the weights simply for bragging rights. In fact, we’re very much a “community over competition” kind of strength and conditioning gym anyway. No, instead we take our time--meeting each member where they are in their journeys-- to move well for both safety (a primary concern) and effectiveness. You earn the right to add weight (AKA one variable of intensity) once you’ve proven yourself capable of owning your positions with control and consistency!
Think of it this way. What if you could wake up everyday and know that your body was ready to handle everything you wanted it to do?
Instead of worrying about nagging pains or limitations, you feel excited to challenge yourself at the gym or in your favorite activities and to enjoy new experiences and opportunities as they present themselves.
Get stronger and move better for the things you enjoy. That’s the ultimate goal, right, especially as we get older? Hence, why we focus first on moving well, then moving often; whereby movement then becomes medicine!
Our approach isn’t some randomly thrown together, watered-down combination of bits and pieces of different sports. It’s a cohesive method built around what we’ve learned by coaching and training hundreds of real people for more than a decade who want to be fit so they can live better lives. It’s really as simple as that.
